
Former Dancing with the Stars pro Charlotte Jørgensen revealed she survived the horrific plane crash at LaGuardia Airport earlier this month.
“A week ago tonight, after a fabulous weekend in Montreal, I boarded Air Canada 8646 bound for La Guardia NYC,” Jørgensen wrote via Instagram on Sunday, March 29, while sharing a photo of the wreckage.
“By now, probably most of you have heard of the collision that happened with a firetruck on the runway. I owe my life to two brave souls Captain Antoine Forest and First Officer Mackenzie Gunther – they made the ultimate sacrifice so that we all could live,” she continued.
Jørgensen added that she was “indebted” to the two pilots who died in the crash and said her “thoughts are with their families.”
While she said that she felt “nothing” the night of the crash because of the “adrenaline rushing” through her body, “the days after [have] been tough – physically, mentally and emotionally.”
Fans might remember Jørgensen from season 1 of Dancing with the Stars when she was partnered with actor John O’Hurley. The two ultimately came in second place during the competition’s inaugural season.
Lisa O’Hurley, the Seinfeld alum’s wife, left a comment praising Jørgensen.
“Charlotte I’m so happy you are safe and what a heartfelt gesture of gratitude from someone actually there,” Lisa wrote, before referencing her 19-year-old son with O’Hurley. “As Will is now a pilot that was very hard to see. These two men are heroes.”
The incident occurred on March 22 when a passenger plane collided with a firetruck on the runway.
“A Jazz Aviation flight operating on behalf of Air Canada was involved in an incident on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in which the aircraft struck a Port Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident,” a message posted by LaGuardia’s official X account on March 23 read.
An unnamed flight attendant was ejected from the plane while strapped in the jump seat, but miraculously survived.
